Welcome to Camden County’s Hearts and Hands for the Homeless. Homelessness is a major problem that includes those living on the street, to those living in shelters, to families who are doubled up or living in their cars. Homelessness is a complex issue, which touches all thirty-seven municipalities, and there are many factors that contribute to an individual’s homelessness.
Though this problem is challenging, we are blessed by the hearts and hands of many residents like yourself who care and want to make a change. Many people want to help and are doing what they believe is within their reach in order to help individuals in need. However, to end homelessness, we ALL need to work together and move in one direction, so we can end this human crisis. Sometimes what an individual does as an effort to help does little to solve the underlying problem of homelessness. In fact, public feedings and giving to panhandlers often serves as a vehicle that enable the homeless to remain in crisis rather than seek the help that they need. We want to encourage our homeless population to connect with professional agencies to get more, long term help so as to permanently end homelessness. We also would like to encourage you to connect your generosity to those same professional agencies that are making an impact in the lives of individuals with housing insecurities.
Thank you again for your generosity and your desire to help end homelessness in Camden County.
Sincerely,
Carmen G. Rodriguez
